Subject: Pieces – A Rant

While you are busy on your smart phone, letting everyone know how you are feeling right now and what is going on in your life, people are plotting, and people are dying.

It s just easier to mosey along as if those terrorist attacks are happening somewhere else. It ’s really the only way to cope. Get up and treat each day as the day before. Take care of the minutia, go home to your family and put your feet up. There is little we can do anyway, except wait for the next sensational, sordid story. Isolated incident, San Bernardino. Somebody dropped the ball is all. Back to the Christmas list.

Besides, isn’t that the job of our government? To defend our country, our citizens? We can count on them right? Instead we get lip service about our phobias and an admonishment about our propensity for guns. It’s been said before. The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

Have we forgotten 9/11? People of the Islamic faith living among us. For years. Next door neighbors. Came to the barbecues. Living as we live. But not. They spent their years playing the game, and laying the plot that became 9/11. Living the American dream for years did not change their resolve or their determination to follow what their religion teaches. Do we dare think that bringing more of these so-called refugees onto our soil will change them into the soft-hearted, good-natured, fun-loving people we are? Are we to think that sprinkled liberally among our states and cities they will become patriotic citizens?

Our country is being hijacked. Our rights and our culture are being dissolved as political correctness demands no one be offended by anything. The red, white and blue is fading, no longer the bright promise of freedom, but an offense to people living under the sacrifices made by our forefathers, our fathers, sons and daughters.

This is not the America we built for our children. We have burdened them with millions of people immigrating to this land, who have no stake in this land, people who are immediately given freebies we cannot even fathom for ourselves. Those arriving, including those who come from countries who practice a religion that dictates they kill us, are given welfare, social security, health care, housing, protection. They are treated with kid gloves, treated better than our homeless, our veterans and our poor.

Too many of our children do not fathom what is happening. They are caught up in today’s technology, today’s latest Youtube video, the latest phase. I would like to live there too. Just what’s on my mind at the moment. But somebody has to be paying attention.

Paying attention can come too late. We have terrorists among us. We are bringing in people who are totally opposed to our values. Who abhor our values, our culture. They hide amongst us, pretending, waiting. And we go on, waltzing innocent in our daily lives.

San Bernardino was just a blip. Silly us. We shouldn’t judge. We are a compassionate culture. It’ s who we are. Bring them all. To us. We are believers. Somehow, someday, they will all see the light and it will all be fine.
