Yes, I would like for Trey Gowdy to be the speaker; but, if Trump is elected I would like to see him as the Attorney General of the USA. Also, what are the choices other than McCarthy and Chaffetz. These two do not impress me because they look like low-energy- type people. We need people who will work to do their job. Boehner always looks like he is bored stiff with the whole thing.
Is Draft Gowdy Movement Gaining Momentum with Grassroots?

D.C. insiders may not like this, but in the wake of Speaker Boehner’s resignation, the GOP grassroots is building momentum to draft Trey Gowdy for speaker.
Gowdy has long been a favorite of those who think Washington Republicans are corrupt and out of touch with the goals of the GOP Base, and John Boehner’s resignation offered the more conservative members of the house an opportunity to express that discontent, giving momentum to the Draft Gowdy For Speaker movement. As the Hill reported Wednesday:
Members of the conservative Freedom Caucus, central players in trying to push Boehner out, have yet to coalesce around a candidate. Talk about a Gowdy run first emerged at a Freedom Caucus meeting on Monday night.
“None of the House Freedom Caucus members have made any commitments. We’re gonna meet with all the candidates,” said Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.), a co-founder of the group who attended Monday night’s meeting. “But if Trey Gowdy were to run for Speaker, I think he’d win.”
House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), who is close to leadership, launched the “Draft Gowdy” campaign during an appearance on Fox News early Tuesday morning, saying Gowdy’s entry into the race would be “heaven sent.”
Rep. Mia Love (R-Utah), the first black female Republican in Congress, watched the most recent GOP presidential debate with Gowdy, and she followed Chaffetz’s lead, pitching the idea of a Gowdy run to GOP colleagues Tuesday inside a closed-door meeting of House Republicans, sources told The Hill.
Others joined the effort as well. New York Rep. Lee Zeldin, the only Jewish Republican in Congress, endorsed Gowdy as an “effective leader with tremendous intellect, moral character, charisma, vision and heart.”
Gowdy himself has insisted that he would like to remain in charge of the Benghazi Select Committee, but the speakers race is wide open, as congressional Republicans can’t seem to find a candidate capable of garnering a sufficient number of votes. Majority Whip Scalise, Budget Chair Price, and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy have failed to inspire any sort of enthusiasm from the party. (Draft Gowdy and let him finish the Benghazi job.)
What does this mean? There’s an opportunity for the grassroots to convince committed conservatives on Capitol Hill to draft Gowdy and unite the movement. As Rep Mia Love told CNN: “He said that he would join if he was asked to serve.” With DC dragging its feet, its up to Americans who want more of Congress to make their support of Gowdy for speaker clear.
