KOMMONSENTSJANE – WELCOME TO THE FAILURE THEATER

It’s where GOP leaders pretend like they’re fighting to win, but actually plan to lose.

The Republican leadership in the Senate is going to try to trick you this week with a grand production of “Failure Theater.”

On Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) will stage a “show vote” on a bill that defunds Planned Parenthood, which the Democrats will block. But instead of standing his ground, Senator McConnell will immediately abandon the effort and begin working with the Democrats to pass a short-term continuing resolution (CR) that funds Planned Parenthood.

This is a perfect example of “Failure Theater,” which is when party leaders pretend to be trying to win when they’re really plotting to lose.

McConnell and others will call the bill backed by Democrats a “clean CR,” but there is nothing clean about funding Planned Parenthood.

The short-term CR will also fund executive amnesty, sanctuary cities, Obamacare, and the Iran nuclear deal because Senator McConnell refuses to keep his promise to use the power of the purse to stop the president’s agenda.

With one bill, Senator McConnell will kick all three legs – economic, security, and social – out from under the Republican stool.

Conservatives in the Senate may try to offer amendments to remove the objectionable funding, but Senator McConnell will do everything he can to block the consideration of those amendments.

This too is part of the leadership’s “Failure Theater.”

They allow votes on conservative policies when it’s for show, but block votes on those same policies when it really matters. They pretend to be trying to win when they’re really deliberately plotting to lose.
PULL BACK THE CURTAIN
If you’re tired of the betrayals and want to help us expose the senators who are surrendering to the president, please help us defeat the CR.

Specifically, we need to pressure 41 Republicans to filibuster the CR and make it clear that there aren’t enough votes to fund Planned Parenthood and these other liberal policies.

The CR not only forces taxpayers to pay for things they oppose, it also sets them up for an epic defeat later this year.

Senator McConnell wants to pass a short-term CR now rather than working out a long-term funding deal because he wants to create a year-end crisis that allows him to cut an even larger deal with the president.

Specifically, he wants to pass a giant, yearlong omnibus spending bill in December when most Americans aren’t paying attention that… •Funds Planned Parenthood, sanctuary cities, executive amnesty, the Iran nuclear deal, and Obamacare,

•Busts the budget caps set in 2011;

•Renews expiring tax pork for K Street;

•Raises the debt limit; and

•Reauthorizes the crony Export-Import Bank

This is why it’s so important for conservatives to get 41 Republicans to defeat the CR. We can’t let it be used later in the year to do even more harm.
Please call the Republicans in the Senate and urge them to block the Obama-McConnell CR by voting against cloture.

Tell them that you aren’t fooled by Senator McConnell’s “Failure Theater.” Tell them that you want them to ignore him and do the right thing.

Americans didn’t elect a Republican majority in the Senate to surrender to President Obama and Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) at every turn.

It’s time for Republicans to stand up to the Democrats and fight for American taxpayers, which is what they were elected to do.

Thank you for your support and for standing strong for freedom.

Sincerely,
Ken Cuccinelli II

President
Senate Conservatives Action
