Susan Sarandon is still throwing stones and blaming President Reagan for the homeless problem of today (a manufactured problem by the Democrats cause they have run out of things to grip about and blame because any blame falls back on the Democrats). The Democrats have been in power and what have they done to solve any problem except make the problems worse – nothing. Susan needs to go out and talk to the homeless – they are homeless because they want to be. Because if they didn’t, they could be in a shelter in any city of this country. There is no excuse for anyone being homeless. Sorry girl, you have to try again.
Susan has to understand “homelessness, poverty, and self- responsibility all go together wrapped in a neat package.” Just think if she had not had the success she had which was caused by capitalism she might have been on the street and homeless. Except, she was successful and has turned on the people who made her successful.
She must be reliving her oscar winning movie by criticizing Reagan – dead man walking – instead it should be called dead man talking. Ho Hum! These Democrats just cannot ever take self-responsibility and help in the game of life – what would happen if they didn’t have the blame game to blame. Susan needs to take a selfie and say – is that me, Susan Sarandon, who is doing all of this jiving talk that don’t amount to a hill of beans.
Now she is beating the drums of the progressives in this country. Why wasn’t she doing this before her success. Wonder why people in Hollywood do this – before, they are so attuned to democracy and once they hit that pinnacle of success where they have more money than they know what to do with – I guess they get bored and that is the way they get attention and are in the slimelight?
Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon thinks former President Ronald Reagan is to blame for America’s reluctance to discuss the issue of homelessness.
In an appearance on Tavis Smiley’s PBS talk show to promote her son Jack’s new AMC documentary Storied Streets, Sarandon said that the national “conversation” about homelessness “changed around the Reagan era, where everything was your fault.”
“I think that the conversation changed around the Reagan era, where everything was your fault.” Sarandon replied when asked why the issue of homelessness has fallen “off the radar for discussion.” “And so you blamed, you were blamed for not trying hard enough, you know, from drinking, for drugs, whatever. Just like in the AIDS epidemic the focus went on your lifestyle as opposed to what was actually happening.”
And then I think as the economy got tougher for so many people it’s understandable – it’s the same thing that happens with immigrants. You know, you are trying to hold on to your house. People – there are so many people in this country that are one paycheck away of being on the street, and if they can’t couch surf long enough, they are homeless.
So when you have so many people working so hard. Two jobs per family, three jobs per family, they don’t want to think that that’s them. And there is also compassion fatigue. So people see it and it doesn’t get solved, and they just don’t want to see it any more. And everyone is fighting so hard. And I think it’s been a number of things that have happened, that have made us not want to deal with this issue. But hopefully what Jack’s film does is it humanizes the issue and it puts a face on that. It shows you the hidden homeless and it shows you how many different ways you can end up on the street and how difficult it is to get a job once you’re on the street and you don’t have an address and you don’t have a phone number.
Sarandon won a Best Actress Oscar for her role in Tim Robbins’ 1995 crime drama Dead Man Walking. The actress is well-known for her liberal activism; last month, Sarandon joined other celebrities in a call to boycott the state of Indiana over Gov. Mike Pence’s signing of the state’s Religious Freedom and Restoration Act. (Was she living with Robbins at the time?)
Why does Sarandon have a problem with religious freedom? No one bothered her when she had that religious freedom when she was sharing a tent with Robbins all of those years. She has to understand that ACT won’t make her marry anyone – she will still have the freedom to shack up with anyone one she wants. She has doesn’t understand that the Democrats have been in power for six years and have caused the loss of jobs and loss of freedoms – does she not understand that? And she is blaming Reagan for the homeless in the country.
