Liberal reaction to Ted Cruz’s announcement on Monday that he’s running for president has been predictably negative. But criticism of the Texas senator and his entry into the 2016 race has certainly not been limited to Democrats.

New York Republican Congressman Peter King, who has referred to Cruz as a “carnival barker,” yesterday told CNN that Cruz is “just a guy with a big mouth.” Rep. King added that he would jump off a bridge if the conservative lawmaker were to win the GOP nomination.  (Rep. King you didn’t say which bridge?)

Responding to his critics on both sides of the aisle, Cruz told Fox News’ Sean Hannity Monday night that the media has depicted Republicans as either stupid or evil. He then went on to say that a third caricature has been invented for him — “crazy.”

Then with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his lips reminiscent of how Ronald Reagan used to deal with an often hostile press, Cruz told Hannity that he takes that kind of caricature as “a little bit of a backhanded compliment.”

The first person to officially jump into the 2016 presidential contest went on to describe how media outlets “do everything they can” to portray him as a “wild-eyed” terrorist.

MSNBC host Chris Matthews called Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) a “political terrorist” on Wednesday night’s edition of “Hardball.”

“I will say he’s a terrorist because what the guy has done basically says my goal is demolition — blow up health care, blow up the continuing resolution, bring the government to a standstill and then make us forfeit on the national debt,” Matthews said.

His guests, on the other hand, bristled at the use of such a loaded word.

“I think he’s a demagogue, I think he’s irresponsible, but I think when we use the word terrorist we apply that to the Boston bombers, we apply that to the Sept. 11 hijackers,” Republican political analyst Steve Schmidt said. “I’m not comfortable with the word, but he’s clearly very irresponsible.”

(Wasn’t Steve Schmidt John McCain’s campaign manager?  Wasn’t Steve the one that complained about Sarah Palin and her purchases of clothing during the campaign?)

It looks like Chris left the farm long time ago!

Obama criticizes Cruz as ideological.  Obama didn’t realize it but he was complimenting Cruz.  The definition of ideology is a set of conscious and unconscious ideas which make up one’s goals, expectations and motivations.   How refreshing that Cruz does have a plan whereas Obama does not have a plan.

By the way, what is different NOW than when Senator Obama voted NO on raising the debt ceiling?

Ted Cruz was elected by his state to stop Obamacare.   He is actually one of the few representatives who is doing what he said he would do.   Besides every poll shows over 50% of Americans don’t want Obamacare.

The purpose of a terrorist is to use different means other than blowing up bombs and that is to cause chaos and to bring down a government.  If that is the case, Chris should look directly at Barack Obama.
