Let it snow, let it snow, says the song. Wonder where the global warming went. Even the Mayor has been busy trying to keep the people safe. Have the people gotten soft. In the 50’s, even the south had the snow, sleet, and cold weather and we even had snow in January of this year. I always had boots and a heavy coat. And then, the weather changed and wasn’t as cold and now the cycle is returning back to the 50’s weather.
After four significant snow storms since the beginning of the year, Bostonians are getting more than a little stir crazy— and no one can really blame them. I bet they wished they did have some of that global warming that this administration keeps harping about. Do you think the man upstairs is trying to show them who is really in charge?
Winter storm blasts New England with two feet of snow, severe winds. And, I understand from the weather report, more is on the way.
Things have gotten so bad that Boston Mayor Marty Walsh was forced to deliver some real talk to the citizenry — specifically warning the knuckleheads who have been jumping out of their windows and into the snow to cut it out.
What he said:
“I’m asking people to stop their nonsense right now. These are adults jumping out windows,” Walsh said on Monday, according to the Boston Herald. “It’s a foolish thing to do and you could kill yourself.”
What he meant:
DON’T BE IDIOTS, PEOPLE.
To understand why this is even a thing, we turn to Walsh once again. Boston, he noted, has been buried under 96 inches of snow (and counting) so far this winter. The city is just a few inches away from the all-time record — a record that literally no one wants. [Boston to D.C.: Stop whining about your snow]
Bostonians are a grizzled people.
They’re used to a lot of snow.
But this winter has brought even the toughest of Bostonians to their knees.
Believe it or not, the city could get even more snow in the coming week. As tempting as it is to jump out of your window at the prospect of more snow, though, just don’t. You’ll only make things worse.
“We’re asking people to act responsibly in the city of Boston,” Walsh said. “This isn’t Loon Mountain, this is the city of Boston, where we’re trying to remove snow off of the street and it becomes very dangerous.
“And the last thing we want to do is respond to an emergency call where somebody jumped out of the window because they thought it was a funny thing to do.”
We’re sure Walsh meant no offense to the actual Loon Mountain. It’s a fine New Hampshire ski resort — which, incidentally, was CLOSED on Monday because it was WAY TOO COLD.
In early February, residents in eastern Washington were scratching their heads about a strange rain that fell from the sky. A milky-colored rain fell Feb. 6 as part of a recent onslaught of storms to hit.
A global look at ocean pH reveals that the water is more alkaline (basic) in the open ocean than in many coastal regions. The more alkaline the water is, the better poised it is to resist ocean acidification.
I always watch the rain on my windows. Before the rain, the windows were dusty and after the rain, my windows were so clean. It is always such a fresh clean smell in the air so I have to go out and absorb the fresh air and thank the Lord for a job well done on my windows.
