KOMMONSENTSJANE – MANNERS AND STANDING YOUR GROUND

Remember the movie, “Pretty Woman?”  Where are those silly women, so inept at walking! Because she’s a lady, our lovely heroine’s self-esteem must be undercut by a lack of equilibrium whenever her confidence temporarily skyrocketed.   The heroine is to be a living set of “relatable” attributes while never straying too far into actually being human, and apparently “relatable” means bumping into walls and being kinda goofy (but not eccentric!).   And also conventionally attractive, and thin.

All of that is only in the movies.  In real life women have to be very careful in today’s world because they seem to have a  problem with men’s manners.  In our new world, women should not expect manners or is that just hearsay?  Have women passed the goal line?  In fact, when I see how men and women treat each other, I cringe!  Do women have a right to expect politeness?

In this new world where we are threatened each day by people who have lost the ambition to respect women and when we ask for equality, should we expect ignorance and  unmannerly male responses?  Remember, we keep hearing about the “new world order?”  How do women in today’s world handle this thing about manners?  When you see inside my “new world order,” you had better bring your manners with you because they still apply whether you are a member inside or outside – since I plan to stand my ground!  The moral to this story is – if you do not respect yourself, neither will anyone else!
