A charter school in Temecula, CA, has removed any book from its library that pertains to Christianity, including books by Christian authors and publishing companies. It seems the school Superintendent Kathleen Hermsmeyer, stated, “we do not purchase sectarian educational materials and do not allow sectarian materials on our state-authorized lending shelves.”
One of the books removed includes, “The Hiding Place,” the inspirational true story of Corrie ten Boom who helped save countless Jews escape during the Holocaust. The Pacific Justice Institute is representing a parent from the school, stating the charter school has violated First Amendment rights. Someone in the town who is familiar with a library needs to go in and just check out just what is in this secret library. Why is this superintendent able to be the judge and jury?
