Red Skelton, God rest his soul, certainly gave justice to the Pledge when he gave this performance!
The pledge is not a religious exercise but a voluntary patriotic exercise that teaches American history and civics. No child can be required to recite the pledge.
Amendment I (1791) of the Constitution reads: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; OR THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE PEACEABLY TO ASSEMBLE, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

I agree, it needs to be back in Schools. Did not hurt us a bit, and if someone don’t like it, point them to the highway that takes them the hell back to where they came from!
