What is all of the distress about in China? A gentleman (Russia’s Putin) rides in on his horse to save a damsel (China’s First Lady) in distress and China goes into a frenzy because Putin helps out the First Lady by rising from his dinner chair, as a gentleman should, and slipping her shawl over her shoulders. What chivalry! The smiling First Lady kindly accepted the offer, but seconds later deftly slipped the shawl off into the hands of a waiting aide. It seemed the small act of chivalry was quickly but politely rebuffed. The shawl appeared to be very heavy. China’s state TV anchor stated, “President Putin has placed a coat on Peng Liyuan and China’s First Lady’s boundless charm wins over Mr. Putin.” What a gentleman! Chivalry is still in style even with the polite rebuff.
