On August 21, 2014, the Joint Chiefs, General Martin Dempsey, stated “the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria cannot be defeated unless the U.S. or its partners take on the Sunni (ISIS) militants in Syria. This is an organization that has an apocalyptic end-of-days strategic vision that will eventually have to be defeated. Can they be defeated without addressing that part of the organization that resides in Syria. The answer is no. But he and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel gave no indication that Obama was about to approve airstrikes in Syria. It requires a variety of instruments, only one small part of which is air strikes. I’m not predicting those will occur in Syria at least not by the U.S. But it requires the application of all of the tools of national power – diplomatic, economic, information, military.”
In the current battle with ISIS inside Iraq, Obama’s military strategy has been aimed at containing the militant organization rather than defeating it.
Now turning the page to August 24, 2014, (so what changed to tell a different story) the Joint Chiefs Chairman says “Despite threats to the contrary, Dempsey insisted the ISIS is a regional threat and said he would not recommend U.S. airstrikes in Syria until he determines that they have become a direct threat to the U.S. That he believes the Sunni (ISIS) insurgent group, formerly know as ISIS, is not currently plotting or planning attacks against the U.S. or Europe.” Since when did they go from being ISIS and are now named the Sunni insurgent group? Is this a name change just to confuse the American people since the beheading of Foley to make this group more legitimate? ISIS IS ISIS.
He must have had the right side of his brain turned on when he made that statement on August 21. Then on Sunday, August 24, Sunday, woke up and turned on the left side of his brain. Isn’t that the way children (Dempsey and Hagel) act when their parents (Obama) are out-of-town and the parents have to come back home to get everything straightened out? Politics and war do not mix and that is what this administration is doing by putting our people and journalists’ heads on the chopping block. Now is the time to rid the world of these illiterate people whose IQ’s could not stand a test!
