It is so good that in our country we can be whatever political party we want to be. Even in families you have different stripes and feelings and I will try to paint the differences with a broad brush. In our family, we have one side that is conservative and the other side, probably most of them are liberal. In fact, the Grandmother and Grandfather were the old kind of Democrats. They voted for the party not the person. In my immediate family, we vote for the person who we feel that can do the most for our country not the party.
By witnessing the Democratic National Convention, their party ideology has changed. There are two sides – the progressive (communism) and the other side are the Muslim Brotherhood. So they had a difficult time coming up with a platform during their convention. Half of them did not want “God” in their platform. The other side did. Finally after three votes with the “do not wants” winning, God was arbitrarily put back into their platform with a lot of ruffled feathers. So that tells me the party has changed and is split.
Most of the time families ignore the political feelings of each other and leave it in the closet; but, every now and then when a conservative in the family expresses their feelings, the ire in the liberal rises – not in the spirit of a good debate – but underhanded. The love of self seems more important than the love of family. So all of you out there who have a difference of opinion and you want to add a comment to something I have written, feel free to express yourself – don’t hide it in the closet. People appreciate you a lot more if you express yourself and don’t hold this anger inside because whatever your feeling, the family still loves you. Wouldn’t you hate if all of this country were the same – it would be so boring!
