FLOWING WINE AND CHEAP TALK

We attended a wine tasting at the Becker Winery between Fredericksburg and Stonewall, TX, which was a gift from a friend.  The wine  was flowing which included the rose’ and red wines from four different vineyards in the Hill Country and one from Lubbock, Texas, and snacks were even included. The tasting lasted from 11 o’clock until about 12:30 p.m.  After the tasting, each person was assigned to a particular table  where three different chefs from the area prepared the different courses of the meal.  Did I ever luck out, I was seated next to a genuine college democrat professor.  I told him that I had been looking for one for some time.  I immediately told him that I was an independent conservative and voted for the person not any party.  We discussed a number of different subjects.  In particular, we discussed climate change.  His opinion was that the people nor the corporations were  being taxed enough.  His feelings were that both tax entities should be taxed at least 60 percent of their wages.  My explanation was that the U.S. has certainly done their part within the range of people and corporations; but, how did he suggest the rest of the world – since we have not had any luck for them to jump on the band wagon –  do their part (I specifically called out China and India who were not interested in doing anything to hurt their economy because they will not curb their emissions).  There was not a solid answer for this.  The next subject was the downgrading of my company, Exxon, and how bad these companies are which as you well know is not true, in my eyes.  Does the country realize that the best companies and paying jobs are in the oil company area?  As we all know, most of the high-paying manufacturing jobs have left the country because of the  taxes and the EPA restrictions. Then we discussed the students who attended the college he was associated with.  As we all knew, during our schools days, the college he was associated with only enrolled students with a 4.0 point grade average.  I pointed out that could not be true because the entire football team were not 4.0 students.  His reply was “the college tried to make this happen by trying to dissolve the program which was impossible because the money the sport brought in.” And, then I explained to  him that my grand-niece, with a 4.0 point average and Valedictorian, was rejected because “she was not the right color at this college.”  She, instead, was accepted at the University of Hawaii and graduated.  At this point in time she is interning as a doctor in Missouri.   And as usual, when the conversation becomes contentious, the liberal starts telling the conservative person they are “dumb” for not believing the liberal talking points.  Now can you believe, here is an adult professor stooping to such a low-level because a person did not agree with him.  Why is it, a liberal cannot just have a conversation and each side chew the fat and then  if they do not agree, so be it, and move on to another topic instead of resorting to name calling.   The average person would have been insulted, but having  been in this type of situation before with a liberal, it is best to listen and try to figure out just what is going on in their head.   I just let him continue to rant.  I  listened to his talking points and gave him the opportunity to convince me.  but, as usual,  the air became polluted when he told me that our leader was doing an excellent job –  it was time  to thank him for the conversation and move on to topics that were more compatible in conversation.  His wife was lovely and engaging; but, with his closed mind and very little bit of etiquette on his part, it became a dull conversation.  But, you know what, I was not disappointed because I got what I thought I would get from a closed mind.  It only tells me that we must hire more conservative thinkers in our class rooms because these liberal fellow’s minds have not a smidgen of room for even a little bit of a conservative’s conversation. The sad part is – these professors are brain-washing our children.  Thank goodness he is retired now, has bought a farm and is raising chickens which is  a good fit.

The nicest part of the day was,  we met a relative  who also sat at our table with our same last name.  We, then, engaged in a conversation on geneology which layed out the kin we shared.  The wine was outstanding and the food was excellent; but, I keep thinking about this little liberal professor out in  the country with those chickens and think – what is he  telling those chickens?

It has been obvious over the years, to my wife and I, that to many colleges have been promoting and sanctifying liberal professors. The proliferate hiring of such individuals didn’t just start being recognized just in colleges. When our now 50 yr old youngest daughter was attending her history class as a junior in high school, she was upset enough to question her teacher with …”…when are you going to start teaching us history and stop concentrating on just current events?” Of course her comments weren’t received cordially and didn’t change the course of the days agenda. Even that fact that our daughter didn’t continue her education by way of attending college, she – only by the use of her common sense – has reached her highest held and paid position, now, as a Vice President and Department Head of Wells Fargo bank. Our first born…and now retired from the U.S. Navy with 23 yrs of service, also learned by common sense, through those 23 yrs, to maintain his conservative views and has just graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and is going for his Masters Degree that has already qualified him for a position with the Veterans Administration as a Veterans Counselor. God Bless Common Sense and Conservatism. – A transplanted Philadelphia born native and Navy Veteran, now retired in Gun Barrel City Texas with my Texas Born and Navy Veteran wife of 53 yrs.

The nice thing about it, in spite of all of this brain washing these professors do, we still thank God have some to survive and achieve their goals.
