Telephones and driving or riding without seat belts in a car are a deadly mix as two couples found out a few days ago. We were driving into San Antonio and came upon an accident whereby the truck was over turned and our thoughts and prayers were with whoever was in it – the scene was not good. The newspaper reported it was two couples heading for the coast to work during Spring break. As the story goes, the two women with seat belts buckled were in the front seat and the two men were in the back seat with no seat belt buckled, and the woman driver’s phone rang. In haste, she tried to look for the phone and lost control. They flipped, rolling over a number of times. The men were ejected and killed. The women survived with injuries. It is a sad story that happens quite often and I think about the caller and how they feel. Accidents happen so quickly and then we have the rest of our lives to think about – what could have been done differently?
