Does America have a guy or gal like this? If so, let’s hear about it. In Mexico, there is a man, Carlos Topete, who formed a nonprofit with his own money, repeat his own money, called Envia, which is helping women in poverty by providing micro-loans. This founder stated that he was inspired to start the organization when he heard about the Nobel Peace Prize winner who pioneered the idea of micro-loans – small loans for poor borrowers at a zero rate of interest. The program was launched in 2008 with 12 women and operating only with Topete’s own money. In three years, it has grown to serve 250 women in five different communities in the valley of Oaxaca. How honorable!
