PLUS OR MINUS A MILLION?

Things are looking up, at least two Democrats voted with the Republicans to hold down the debt ceiling.  They had more fortitude than even our own Republicans – John Boehner, Speaker,  Eric Cantor. Dave Camp, and  Hal Rogers – there were 28 total Republicans who voted to increase the debt.  As usual, business groups urged Congress to increase the debt as soon as possible to assure companies that we were not going to default on our obligations.  The U.S. Chamber, the country’s largest business lobbying group, urged Congress to raise the debt limit to avoid “collateral stresses so often inflicted during similar episodes in recent years.”  Since big business and the Chamber of Commerce want us to increase the debt – why not just send them a bill to help us out of debt.  We need to establish a new rule for the lobbyists – any money you want to pitch into a politician’s bucket – pitch it in the pay-off-the-debt bucket?
