This story is about the olden days when the bread bakers were not very honest and would shortchange the people by selling bread that contained a lot of air pockets. The bakers were threatened with severe fines after the local officials called them out due to complaints from the citizens of this lovely city. So, the bakers gave an extra loaf to anyone who bought twelve loaves of bread to make up for their thievery. Since this was the days before freezers, I guess the people had large families if they bought twelve loaves of bread since homemade bread does not stay fresh very long. In the end, the town thought highly of these bakers because they were getting something for nothing.
