DRY AS A BONE!

Listening and watching the leader last night, he was still riding that wave of identity politics which he used in his last campaign.  He spoke of immigration and reproductive freedom and equal pay for women; but, I must have missed the subject of a balanced approach to deficit reduction during a bathroom break!  Does he think our budget doesn’t count for anything?  As usual, he talks a good story about women; but, he doesn’t walk the walk.  In his own administration there is a disparity of the pay women receive versus what the men take home.  In the working world the average man make $869 per week and a woman makes $713 which is a difference of $156 per week which could go a long way in a household budget. During my working world and child-bearing days, the company in which I worked had an excellent policy.  You could work as long as you wanted in those days.  The policy was six weeks maternity leave after the baby was born and your job was saved for you.  If health issues were a problem prior to or after –  a three-month sick leave was in place.  What more could  you ask?

The disappointment came when he continued to talk about his “pen and phone.”  It was a continuation of his whining.  Instead of,  ” I will march up to the Capital and we will work together until we arrive at a consensus on the problems that are plaguing our country,”  it was the bully at his best, a threat.  And, the thing that really threw me off base, was his Socialist Democratic Congress and Senate actually clapped when he made this remark.  That is like saying, “thank you for doing our jobs – all 500 plus people.”   In fact,  Pelosi, you know who that is, made the statement before the speech on Greta’s Fox program that she was happy that he was going the “pen” route.  Really?

All of us know that his mind does not run on the same track of most Americans and you all (don’t include me) elected him when you all thought  “he was the one,” so either “put up or shut up.”  As my Mom, bless her heart always said, “if you dance you pay the fiddler.”  We will have to just do the best we can in a bad situation, hold on to keep things in place, and ride this wave out.  Unless, of course, he could look through the lens of his daughters’  futures and change course.

In the end, the legacy does not look good for this leader.  So, so sad, because it could be different if he would think things through for the good of the country  – instead of himself.  Things could be different under his leadership!  He can do all of these pen things; but,  as soon as he leaves, they will be undone!
