A lot of grumbling is going on about Gates’ remarks in his book about how he “hated his job.”  Some would say, “if you hated the job, why didn’t you leave?”  Having worked in situations where you had a boss that you did not have confidence, it makes it hard – why should you resign and ruin your career.  You know that sooner or later this person will be moved out or up.  The problem is if someone continually bad-mouths the company or individual, the company will send that person on his way.  Although  you have to distinguish between constructive opinion and bad-mouthing.  It depends on the boss and if he can take constructive criticism which in most cases he cannot.  So you learn early on – keep your opinions on the boss to yourself – because sooner or later the person will be exposed for being incompetent in the total mix of the budget and the bottom line.  We can  certainly see that by the spending and taxing that is going on at this very moment.  So the public’s recourse is – vote the bums out!
