My heart was heavy when watching the funeral services of Mandela. The loss for the people and the support they had received from this man will be missed. The scenes on television of the towns, the homes, and the portable bath rooms sitting on the streets were sad. It is noted that most Africans are poor, even though the continent has great natural wealth. The mines of Africa produce more than a third of the world’s gold, 95 percent of its diamonds, and much of its cobalt, copper, and uranium. African farms grow three-fourths of the world’s cocoa, peanuts, and palm oil and palm kernels. So why with all of this wealth is the country’s people so poor? If I were in charge of the world and Africa, I would make a mandatory law every country has to build a decent house with running water and teach them how to take care of it, a healthcare system, and a school to educate the children. It would not have to be a fancy house, just a roof over everyone’s head. I would think this would be a good project for the United Nations (UN). Has the UN checked to see why the people are treated so badly? This is a crime on humanity the world over when you see people living in this fashion with all of the wealth in the world.
