Every day on television we hear that our Attorney General (AG) has sued another company for some violation and the government is paid a lot of money. Where does this money go? Just yesterday, J.P. Morgan said they would pay their fine if the AG would just go away. This money is in the millions of dollars and had to do with the Countrywide mortgage scandal. Where does all of this money go – is it accounted for? Why don’t they place all of the fines they receive to pay on the debt instead of dividing it out to political friends as they are going to do with the J.P. Morgan money? This year alone the fines companies have paid have to be in the billions of dollars. Where is our Treasury Inspector General? Is someone keeping tabs?
