Immigration is a good thing if it is handled correctly; but, it seems our country is out of step with the laws of the country.  In the past, people were able to come to this country when they were sponsored by a person or would be self-sufficient.  But, due to the lack of law enforcement, we have people in this country who would be a heavy burden due to their inability to take care of themselves.  Our country at this point is not a good time for allowing people to enter because it would have an impact on wages, on unemployment, and would affect the working class.  We do not have enough jobs to take care of the people who are currently in this country.  Just check out the unemployment numbers.   Why do we want more immigrants when we can’t take care of the ones we have?  Amnesty would bring 30 million new workers to the labor force in the first decade and would certainly depress wages.

Yesterday in Austin, Texas, a group of  teachers were protesting immigration and were demanding something be done.  But, what amazed me was that these teachers were demanding.  Instead of demanding, they need to concentrate on their teaching skills and do a better job with our students.  It seems our teachers spend more time politicking instead of teaching by the results of the test scores and the fact our children graduate without knowing the three R’s.
