How many people have you known or met that were red-headed?  This is a variation of a rare gene, MC1R.  I always thought growing up that a person was Irish if they were red-headed which is not the case.  Freckles seemed to be included and naturally curly hair.  There are many shades of red.  Some deep red-orange, some flame, some light red – all with fair skin.   I have known only a hand full of red heads walking through my life.  Some had short fuses and others were very mild-mannered.   Although I always thought if a person was red-headed they had a hot temper and caution was the name of the game.  In the end, I always questioned – were the freckles representing the stars in the sky?
