It looks like the Senate Republicans threw the baby out with the bath water when they voted to end the debate which is called “cloture.” There were 25, repeat 25, Republicans that voted with Reid to make this happen. This “yes” vote was a vote for Obamacare. The 25 were:
Alexander, Ayotte, Barrasso, Blunt, Boozman, Burr, Chambliss, Chiesa, Coats, Coburn, Cochran, Collins, Corker, Cornyn, Graham, Hoeven, Isakson, Johanns, Johnson (WI), Kirk, McCain, McConnell, Murkowski, Thune, Wicker.
The 19 heroes who stood with Senators Cruz and Lee to defund Obamacare:
Crapo, Cruz, Enzi, Fischer, Grassley, Heller, Inhofe, Lee, Moran, Paul, Portman, Risch, Roberts, Rubio, Scott, Sessions, Shelby, Toomey, Vitter.
And there were two who did not vote: Flake, Hatch.
I will now throw out two words that people bat around when talking about politicians. One is conservative which means cautious or safe, not risky. The other word is moderate which means a person whose opinions are not strong. So I will let the public decide which people are the moderates and which are the conservatives. I am sure they will all go home and explain to their constituents why they voted with Reid to end the debate and shut down any further effort to slow this train. I wrote a blog on July 18, 2013, entitled, “A Deep Schism” and looking at this group of 25 – the schism is even deeper than what I predicted then. This body (the Senate) of people are the ones who are supposed to be the “thinkers” not the “sinkers” and delve deeper into the heart of any bill, and, if there is any scepticism, they are supposed to improve it. This hot potato – in their eyes because of upcoming elections – “was too hot to handle.” So, the Democrats and Republican 25 did not do their job and therefore they abandoned the American people. As we all know, these people have been waived by our leader from Obamacare, “so what difference does it make” (haven’t we heard this before after Benghazi) if the American people are run over by the train – as some government official also said – we can’t save everyone.
The two sides of prayer are – pray as if everything depended on God; work as if everything depended on you.
