Exercise is any type of physical activity that uses the muscles of the body. It is very important throughout life. The growing bodies of young boys and girls need exercise in order to develop properly. In the adult years, exercise helps keep the body in good physical condition. It improves body function by improving body functions such as blood circulation, breathing, digestion and metabolism. The effects of exercise show up in muscles and good posture and skin color. It also improves the sense of balance and the general strength, power, and endurance of the body.
My favorite exercises are sit-ups and bend-overs. Everyone knows how to perform sit-ups; but, bend-overs are quite unique in that you are standing – raise your arms over your head, take a deep, deep breath, while holding your breath bend over and touch your knees, then exhale, and then repeat. This exercise strengths your stomach muscles and is so easy. That rids your body of that little “pot belly” that creeps up on men and women, especially, if you sit a lot.
A friend of mine always complained about her fluctuating weight. One day, we were visiting and she brought up the subject of her fluctuating weight. Now – how can I make her feel better? Looking at her straight in the face, I asked her, do you think maybe your brain has absorbed more today and caused your weight to increase? I wonder why she has not asked that question since!
