Sean Hannity served us an interesting program tonight with young college graduates – some seeking jobs, others still in college, and some actually holding a job. There was a balance of Democrats and Republicans. A question which I thought was interesting was about the amount of taxes the government should tax citizens. The bulk of the Democrats said they thought 80% was about right so that the government could be sure all services, roads, health care, etc. was paid and that the services were good. That 80% is a good number as long as you are in college, you are not working, and your parents are footing your bills. One of the young Republicans, who has graduated and is working, replied 80% was excessive because it does not leave the worker enough to live on. Yes, I can remember those days when I was in college and living at home, I did not even think about taxes, only that I was thankful I had a job in addition to attending college on a scholarship and making good money. Although, in a few years when I woke up and was paying my own bills, I started having a different outlook on taxes. So, 80% is excessive. All of the young people are attending high-dollar liberal schools and have that special training in economics and politics just by the way they expressed themselves. I would like to hear their mind-set in ten years and ask if they still feel that way about the 80% tax on their income. One of them even deflected on “Fox.” In Texas, we call that “looking a gift horse in the mouth.” All in all, it was interesting to hear how our young people think and gives us pause to pray, “Lord, please help our young people” because they are going to have a mountain of bills to pay if they don’t help us change our government’s ways.
