FACTS OF LIFE APPRAISAL!

While watching the Texas A&M and Rice game on Saturday, I noticed a lot of “dissing” (slang for showing disrespect) and even some “flaming” on both sides.  The A&M quarterback has to realize there is a lot of jealousy out there because he won the Heisman trophy.  And, there is another side to the story, they are not going to let up in the future.  The Rice players succeeded in what they wanted and that was to have him out of the game.  All teams will continue to try to knock him off that pedestal.  As the old saying, “what goes up, must come down.”  He has to be the grown-up in the crowd.  Young people behave the way they were raised to behave, and until they learn to observe and adopt appropriate behavior, they will repeat it.  This is one thing that is lacking in our educational system.  The system should be dedicated to building self-esteem, confidence, and relationships.  This is not happening in the home at the present time because most homes are lacking a father and the mother is busy trying to hold a job.  Therefore, not enough time is being spent with children.  Children are then taught “fight or flight.”  There should be more mentoring by the alumni by taking these young men under their wings and teach them the rules that apply on the road of life.  How about some lessons in how to behave and etiquette – not just rough and tumble football.

A friend of mine sent me a copy of the letter written by Mrs. Beth Bates and posted on Facebook dated August 31 which is entitled, “An Open Letter to Johnny Manziel.  He is the quarterback that I referenced in this blog.  As mothers, we are all pulling for this young man who is so talented and want him to succeed.
