In 2010, 40 states adopted the same standards for English and math. These standards are called the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). But now that the curtain is being pulled back on the real origins of CCSS, the states are getting cold feet and having second thoughts. The initiative for CCSS was to provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what their role is in the picture. It seems there is a pig in the poke. I suggest all parents check into their school district to see how things are set up for their children. It seems the biggest concern is the mental testing of the children and how they are ear-marked.
