SHOES IN YOUR LIFE.

Early man made shoes long before he made records of what he thought or did.  Shoes were made to protect the feet from the cold, rough stones, hot and cold weather.  Shoes are so important that man has given them magic powers in stories and legends.  Some of the tales written about shoes are Puss in Boots, Cinderella, the Seven League Boots, and the winged sandals of Mercury – all stories of magic or unusual shoes.

Shoes have always been a fetish in my household.   When I look at any of my shoes in the closet, they each can tell you a story about my life and what part they played.  Each of them have a heel (some high, some low, and some wedge), some have a tongue (and could certainly tell some interesting tales), some have a round toe and some pointed (and have raised a lot of concern about the hurt I was causing,  myself), and lastly the sole (the most important in anyone’s life).  There are Sunday and dress-up shoes, play shoes, beach shoes, and,  lastly,  house shoes.  The dress-up shoes were always happy because we were going to a party or a dance.  The soles were very busy gliding across the floor and always enjoying the music and always managed to help me take the right steps.  Then there were the play shoes that were taken on trips all over the world and walked many miles and met many people – but were always glad to get back home and return to their shoe box and rest.  The beach shoes always complained when we walked on the gritty sand on the beach – they were happy,  only,  when we walked on the edge of the water where it was cool on their soles.  Now the house shoes never fussed about anything because they always seemed to be relaxed whether they were doing house work or watching television or just jawing with the family.   In the end, I tried very hard to take good care of my shoes.  My shoe repair man always knew how to repair scratches and broken heels and polish or dye my shoes.  There are many times he has said, “I think we need to bury this pair.”  Sadly,  I would  take his advice; but, it made me sad because I would have lost a true friend that has brought me through thick and thin and now my friend will not be able to participate in my next adventure.  Be sure and take a look at your shoes and remember where they have been and what part of your life’s story they walked in and out.
