SMASHED VISIONS.

It was very interesting reading the book, “Killing Kennedy.”  It sure knocked the socks off my thinking in the way problems are handled in our government.  In my government classes and learning how the government operated,  I thought all problems were reviewed by the executive branch,  plus including those departments that were a part of or involved in the subject,  and Congress and the Senate.    Kennedy was very reliant on his brother, Robert, and always needed to run a decision by him before he finalized his own thinking and  actually made the decision.  I think a lot of this came about because his father was such a strong-willed person with the whole family.   How can that be? I was not impressed with John’s military decisions during the PT-109 debacle.  When he told his men after the sinking of the boat, “Seems we’re not a military organization anymore – let’s talk this over.”  The impression I got was from the start he was the boss, but did not want to be the leader even after he became President.  Although I was satisfied with how he handled the Russians and the Cuban crisis.  In the end, I felt that too many decisions were made on how it would affect his party.   I gleamed this man was more interested in women than the government.  I hated that because I voted for President Kennedy and now I hate to admit it.  It is amazing how we let “Camelot” keep snowing us over and over.
