Taxi Cab drivers in Mexico are so polite and courteous when they are summoned even though they do not speak English. When they arrive to pick up the passengers they immediately hop out of he cab and open the doors for the passengers. Our instructions are that you tell the driver your destination and then ask “how many pesos” before you enter the cab. And, you never hail a cab on the street for your own safety – there are stands in various locations or you ask the lobby to call a cab. We have noticed a change in the cab drivers on our last trip. It seems that some of the drivers are from the Middle East and are not polite. In fact, you can tell the difference immediately, because they will not get out of the cab and will not talk. So, things have changed. Now, I am trying to figure out “how do I work around this change.” I know – hire a driver, rent a car, ride the bus or trolley or if all fails – stay at home.
