Does it make you feel bad when someone says to you, “Yes, Mam?” Hell no – not me! I earned it. And it tells me this person has been given extra special attention in his growing up laboratory. Just take one day out of your life when you are out and about in public and pay attention to what other people are saying in carrying on a conversation. It tells you a lot about people. It is called respect for others – young or old and any race. My biggest pet peeve is the lazy word called “uh huh.” That is two words. Why not just say “yes or no.” Takes only one word and is certainly more clear – uh huh sounds like you don’t want to answer or you are not sure. And, put away that gadget you have stuck in your hand when you are in public and participate with what is in front of you. Who knows all of us might just learn something from each other face to face instead of screen to screen. People look like robots parading down the street with their gadget and not paying attention to what is at hand. The gadget can wait until you have a private moment. I am not interested in sharing my time with your gadget while I am supposed to be sharing time with you. Thank you mam or sir!
