Soon school will be out and it will be a long, hot summer and your kids will be yelling, “I’m bored.”  One of the fun things we did was to grow trees from fruit seeds.  Did you know there is a tree inside an orange seed –  or grapefruit or lemon.  Plant any seed 1/2 inch deep in peat moss and keep moist.  Soon you will have a start on your own miniature orchard.  Another fun thing is to cut off the tops of carrots and place them in a shallow tray of water.  When the roots form, plant them in soil. 

If this doesn’t help, there are always some chores around the house they could be responsible for – depending on the age group.
