It is such a good feeling some times just to get away from all of the hustle and bustle of daily life with all of its decisions, the television news and all of the gloom and doom, and especially the computer. It was time for that. We were looking forward to the drive to the beach; but, all day the Texas sky seemed angry and the clouds hung very low. Rain was promised and we never fuss about that. The closer we approached Houston the rain seemed to be in cells. Wet on one side of the road and dry on the other side. Since we have an “EZ Tag” on our car, we drove in the toll lane which makes you feel so much safer and keeps you away from the fast drivers. Everyone always seem to be in a hurry. In reflection, I wonder did I always seem to be in such a hurry when I was employed? It certainly makes you feel so good when you leave all of that traffic behind you. When we arrived at the beach house the clouds looked as if they were saying “hurry in” the wind and the rain is on your heels. Luckily, we were able to unload the auto before the rain, lightning, and winds rolled in. Beau, our Bichon Frise puppy, became very frightened and was trembling when the lightning started. So I picked him up and held him – reassuring him that he was safe. When we retired for the night, we were all exhausted. So Beau was able to sleep at the foot of the bed – under the cover – huddled by my feet. I am not so sure that he closed his eyes that night just waiting for the next clap of thunder because he slept almost all day the next day. When we awoke the next morning, it was still raining; but, we agreed that it was okay because we were full of excitement and promise of a fun time for the three of us at the beach.
