As we have been watching Boston’s terrorist story unfold, we also had another explosion in the town of West, Texas, at the fertilizer factory this past week. The town of West is a small community with a population of approximately 2,800. We are especially proud of Texas A&M Aggies who coordinated a joint effort orchestrated by over 15 local businesses with Aggieland Outfitters as the lead, three student organizations, 200 plus Aggie volunteers and countless generous donators, they delivered approximately 226,500 pounds (over 113 tons – equal to the weight of a Boeing 757) of supplies in two 53′ semi-trailers, two 35′ trailers, three 15′ moving vans, one RV, one moving trailer, and convoy of personal vehicles. They also delivered $15,000 in cash donations to the town leaders. With the local people helping them to unload quicker than it took to load it. There was no Red Cross or FEMA to direct or lead them. Only the citizens of this great community. The people of West, Texas, are what make this country so great but they still need help. So do not stop praying and helping these people of this decimated town in their time of need.
Thank you Texas A&M Aggies, the University spirit, Bryan, Texas, and all Aggies who helped in this effort.
