The basketball game between Louisville and Wichita State was very exciting. I thought maybe Wichita State would upset Louisville since they were ahead most of the game. The only thing lacking was patriotism during the initial start of the game with the flag ceremony and the “Star Spangled Banner.” The singer and the choir did an excellent job. The coaches did a good job on coaching everything except teaching these young men how to respect their flag. Not one player who was shown on television on either side with their hand over their heart and only a few players were singing the words of the song. Patriotism means love of country. Schools are failing to foster patriotism in order to aid sound government. Patriotism is a positive civic virtue, when moderated by a sense of world fellowship. It inspires a love of one’s country as a member of the family of nations dedicated to peace and freedom. I didn’t see too much of that on the basketball court last night. The heart of the game was the loser last night.
