Our unemployment number went down again this week; but, the number of new jobs didn’t reflect that.  I think our government is playing games with the program.  They stop reporting anyone if they stop looking for a job – how do they know if the person has stopped looking for a job.   If he is on any kind of government assistance, he needs to be counted in a category.  We need to come up with a new system of reporting.  We should have a category of the number of people who are on unemployment insurance because if they are receiving unemployment insurance the rule is you have to be trying to find work and being interviewed.  Next, we should have a category of the number of people who are looking for a job.  Finally, we should have a total number for all people who are unemployed.  Because this low number that is being reported is a  joke.  There are a lot more people out of and looking for work than the government is reporting. This statement “they have stopped looking for work and are dropped from the rolls.”  What does that mean – that people don’t count and the government doesn’t care if they get a job?
