SKYLINE OF METAL INSTEAD OF BLUEBONNETS

This is my first week to drive back from San Antonio and view the new landscape which begins at Exit 508 Interstate 10.  Normally, the landscape is lined with bluebonnets, Indian Paint brush, and the rolling hills of the countryside.  The new power poles that parallel the highway are for the wind power which is rolling into us like a dust storm from the West Texas windmills and are monstrous rusted poles with 13 strands of wire lines which could handle a lot of clean laundry;  but, instead it reminds me of a horror movie.  All you can see are these metal, some rusty and others just plain, beams that stretch into the sky.  I wonder what is going to happen when windmills go out of style and they resort to some other trickery to win people’s money and we are stuck with these ugly ducklings.  We seem to forget that we are supposed to protect this earth and leave it as we found it.  We have this group called “green;” but,  where are these people?  I bet they live in some state outside of Texas and are trying to make a handsome sum of money tearing up the country.  Yes, I know about these lines because our property was, initially, some of the land that was pinpointed for these metal elephants.  All of us in this path declined to be a part of this escapade.  People do not realize when they start selling their rights to parts of their property – it puts a kink in the armour when they decide to sell and move on.  Another example is the electric cars – they leave a humongous carbon footprint; but, you don’t hear anyone talking about this.   The fact is these people are trying their best to uproot the foundation of our country and we don’t even poke a finger in their eye.
