Since a new Pope has been elected,  some of the items I feel would be helpful to our parish priests is to send them to a public speaking class to learn how to converse with the parish in their sermons and how to give a  sermon.    Most of them repeat the gospel by talking about the same subject –  but not relating it to the people and their lives in today’s environment.  Catholics do go to church to receive holy communion; but, it is also important to be given some message of hope which is lacking in the world and the church.  The church also needs to back down on asking for money and quit showing favoritism to certain factions in the church.  The priest must be a representative of all people.  Also, we have had too many minority priests that do not have anything in common with the parish and do not speak English.  So, therefore, it leaves a void in a lot of people’s lives.  In regards to the problems of the past, these must be brought out into the open, discussed, and  move on.
