Hugo Chavez, President of Venezuela and a dictator, has died after a long bout with cancer. He begged God for his life during this time. He had a large following in his country of Venezuela. He professed to be for the poor man who was uneducated. This type of leadership never works because the ruler’s power is not limited either by law or by the acts of any official body. Hugo amassed a wealth of $1 plus billion dollars. These people seem to always come into power by turmoil and confusion in their country. It seems that people always turn to a dictatorship when their government cannot provide security for them. In most cases the power is seized by political trickery. Once in control of this power they closely control or abolish the legislature and then suppress freedom of speech, press, and assembly. They always set up an elaborate secret police system to detect the opposition. Those who openly defy the dictator are persecuted.
A good example of dictatorships are Cuba and Venezuela. Years ago, both of these countries were thriving and beautiful countries. The tourism to both places was flourishing and people from America flocked to these countries for vacations. Now, the countries are run down with very little tourism due to kidnapping and robberies. I hope now that the people of Venezuela have lost their dictator that the country can once again become a thriving democracy and set up a government for all of the people not just a few. May God be with the people.
Nothing can bring you peace but yourself. Nothing can bring you peace but the triumph of principles. Ralph Waldo Emerson
