A PUPPY NAMED “BEAU”

DSCN0581

In an earlier story about our little dog called , PePe, I related that he had left this earth for doggie heaven.  We had discussed searching for a new puppy; but, due to the fact that we travel a lot,  we decided we would wait until we slowed down from travelling.  As we all know, God,  sometimes has other plans.  A few months ago, we received a call that my older  sister was hospitalized with a stroke.  At the time, I was suffering from a food virus and was unable to visit with her in the hospital.  So, we communicated with my two grand nieces, who were taking care of her.  After a few days, it seemed she was improving; but, then she took a turn for the worse due to pneumonia setting in and the fact she was a fragile person to start.  God did take her into his care and the priest and grand nieces conducted the rosary and mass in such a manner my sister would have been proud since my sister was such a soldier in the church.

After the services, my grand niece approached us –  asking us if we would adopt my sister’s dog “Beau?”  In fact, begged us, please.  They were unable to take him into their care because both of them did not have room for another puppy.  We both said “YES.”  My sister’s puppy is a male Bichon Frise ,  is white, and weighs about ten pounds.  About two weeks later, my grand niece delivered “Beau” to us at our beach house.  The first time we saw him he was so happy and playful and we immediately fell in love with him.  Before they left,  they brought in some  food and his bedding which consisted of a doggie mattress, a kennel,  a blanket, and a certificate covering his last veterinary exam and shots.  I said to her “surely you have some instructions on how to take care of him?”  Her reply was, “he will need a lot of love and care” because he has been at the vet’s for about four weeks.

We found that out to be true – he would not let us out of his sight.  When we were  packing to return home from the beach and he saw us packing the suit cases, he became unglued and barked until I picked him up in my arms and held him until we drove off.  Our drive home was not very pleasant because he was not used to riding in a car.  Upon arrival at home which was a six-hour drive, I do not know who was the most tired – me or Beau.  Now we know to put him in a kennel in the car because he feels more secure.  He is getting a little bit  better about riding in a car; but, we found out that the only time he rode in a car was to the vet or when he was groomed.   So, now we embark with our new puppy named “Beau.”
