CHEWING THE FAT

Looking back and just mulling over the senseless killing of 26 people who included 20 children who do not get a chance at life, I think what is this all about?  What was the mother who was shot thinking about her son and what was she trying to do to improve the son’s life?  What did the people in the town who knew this young man and mother think?  Did the mother have friends who knew what was going on in these two people’s lives?  Did the mother have relatives who knew what was going on?  Did the religious community know anything?  I hope when all of the facts come out that we are told all of the facts – not just the feel-good facts.  This type of situation will never be addressed, fully, if all of the truth is not revealed.  It seems America always puts things under the rug until it is too late.  We are a knee-jerk society.  When bad things happen we don’t want to put out the dirty laundry so that people can learn from evil – we try to make it easy and go on to the next evil.  We always hit the “mental” illness button.  If that is the case then mental illness in that situation should be explored and try to come to some conclusion on how to handle a person or family in this kind of situation and not wait until something bad happens.  Every facet of this evil should be explored to see how things could have been handled differently involving any friends, family, religious leaders, and the town who knew this young man.  This is not just a family problem – in the end it becomes the whole town’s problem – and must be treated as such in the beginning.  Was the mother asking for help – when she made the statement – I am losing my son?
