What is education?  It is the act or work of educating or training people. The things  a person learns by being taught.  We have a lot of good teachers; but, we have a lot of problems – the major problems are lack of discipline and respect for our teachers.  What has caused this?  It is called lack of parental guidance and support from the parents for the teachers.  We have schools and then we have charter schools.  We also have private and religious schools.  The country has turned to “social promoting” just to keep the kids moving on and this is harmful to the children because as they elevate to the next level the knowledge needed is not there.   So what have we accomplished – nothing.  As usual, the teachers unions are a problem because with all of the regulations it presents a limitation on everything that involves the learning process.  The unions are not putting the children first.  Home schooling is becoming a big process because the parents know what is going on in the schools and how broken the system is.   The establishment of charter schools looked like it was going to help; but, it has run into a brick wall because of the union fighting this tooth and toe nail.  So the only alternative for parents who want their children to receive a good education is to either home school or those that can afford it to go to a religious or private school.  The union’s education system is now called nothing but “baby sitting” our children.  Sad, but true.  When our young people go off to college most of them are not ready – just a continuation of social promotion.  I would love to test all of our young people in college and see how many are really qualified to be there!  Because,  when they go out in the real world and compete – some of them can’t pass company entrance tests.
