The National debt must be an issue in this campaign – we must stop spending.  We have come to a cross-road in this election and must decide who can do a better job to make this happen.  The present administration has the fantasy that they can just erase it from the books or just say “we are not going to pay it” and it will happen.  The definition of the national debt is  the total amount that the federal government owes because of money it has borrowed by selling bonds and certificates of indebtedness.  As all of you know, war creates high national debt and is one of the causes of our debt.  Another is public improvements – improvements in roads and dredging rivers benefit the nation, but do not yield money income.  Also, the amount of money given to green businesses has been large and a  bankruptcy failure in all cases.  Let’s take a breather from spending:  review all government departments for duplication, trim the employees by attrition, trim the welfare rolls, and eliminate the money for foreign governments until we can get back on our feet.
