Social issues are very important to every women because the needs of people do not always balance with the means to obtain them.  This relation of needs to means, where services are scarce,  justifies thoughtful action in behalf of those in need.  So, women want good jobs in order to have that safety net.  Birth control pills are a different kind of safety net.  They can handle the birth control pill part if they have a job.  Comparing jobs and birth control pills is like comparing apples and oranges.
