Mayor Emanuel is inviting crooks into Chicago to elevate his crime statistics after making his speech for them to come to his sanctuary city and telling them they will be safe. Chicago has won the trophy for the most killings each week-end.  Maybe he doesn’t want to lose his trophy.

Obama pal BUSTED using secret slush fund

New questions are swirling this morning about one of the nation’s most hated Democratic leaders – a potential ethics violation that could get one of the biggest names in politics BOOTED right out of office.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a close political ally of President Barack Obama, is coming under fire in his hometown for a trip to Rome to see the head of the Catholic Church in the city, Archbishop Blase Cupich, get elevated to cardinal.

To be clear, many of the city’s political and business leaders are also making the trip. In fact, it’s practically a Who’s Who of Chicago’s boldface names.

But there’s a difference: Just about all the city officials going to Rome are paying their own way or using their campaign funds.

All of them, that is, except for Emanuel and his 14-person entourage!

CBS 2 Chicago reports that their trip is being funded by a shadowy organization called World Business Chicago — a taxpayer subsidized entity.

This group bills itself as “a public-private partnership between the City and the business community,” but the name of the head of the organization might sound very familiar: Rahm Emanuel.
Yes, the mayor himself as at the helm of this organization that raises millions of dollars from undisclosed sources, then uses that cash to send the mayor, his family and his lackeys on trips.

It’s like hosting a game show… and then declaring yourself the winner.

And while Emanuel said no taxpayer funds are paying for his trip, the truth is more complicated.

The Chicago Tribune reports that World Business Chicago gets $1.2 million in money from the city via a hotel tax.

While maybe that $1.2 million was put into a “different account” so that the mayor’s trip is technically paid for from another fund, that’s really just a matter of shifting cash from one pocket into another.

“There’s co-mingled money and you can’t really tell, so that’s something we should be concerned about,” 32nd Ward Alderman Scott Waguespack told CBS Chicago.

Even if the money truly were 100 percent private, that raises other questions – because when a public servant is getting expensive luxury trips halfway around the world, the public he serves has a right to know who’s footing the bill.

But they don’t know – and might never know – because the group told the Tribune its finances aren’t subject to the state’s open records law.

Emanuel has been involved in national politics for a quarter of a century, including Bill Clinton’s 1992 campaign… various high-level gigs inside TWO Democratic administrations… and a stint in Congress.

Many believed he returned to Chicago to build a national profile for himself as a leader so he could eventually run for president.

With rampant crime and corruption taking over the city, Emanuel is now so toxic that many in his own party want nothing to do with him.

And if the questions around his trip to Rome uncover evidence of wrongdoing, he just might follow in the footsteps of another prominent Chicago Democrat who had similarly big ambitions: Rod Blagojevich.

Maybe they can be roommates.
