White House Scandal Erupts After Police Deaths Explode Across The Country

(FreedomBeacon.com)- In the first year of Joe Biden’s presidency, more police officers were killed in the line of duty than any other year since 1995.

A total of 73 officers were intentionally killed in the line of duty in 2021. That’s nearly a 59 percent increase over 2020 when 46 officers were murdered.

And according to Jason Johnson, the president of the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund, the growing anti-police sentiment that has emboldened criminals is largely responsible for this staggering increase in line-of-duty killings.

Johnson, a 20-year police veteran, told Fox News on Sunday that the aftermath of the George Floyd riots coupled with lax prosecutions and demands for less policing played a role in making policing less safe.

Johnson blasted local officials, Congressional leaders, and the White House for voicing a “lack of respect for law enforcement officers” which has “marginalized and demoralized” police officers to the point where homicide rates are skyrocketing in US cities.

According to analysis from the Heartland Institute, in 1987, a record 74 police officers were intentionally killed in the line of duty. That record was repeated in 1995.

The only other year to come close to that record number was 2011 when 72 officers were killed, making 2021 the second-highest single-year line-of-duty deaths ever.

It should be noted that the officers killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks are not included in the Heartland Institute’s analysis.

The Heartland Institute concluded that the increase in line-of-duty killings last year was largely fueled by a rise in the number of “ambush” or unprovoked attacks on police.

Of the 73 officers killed last year, 32 of them were killed in “ambush” or unprovoked attacks. In 2020, such attacks only accounted for ten line-of-duty deaths. And in 2019, only seven officers were killed in “ambush” attacks.
